Opportunity:

Several Harvard schools have identified growth in non-traditional education as part of their core academic plan. The schools seek to expand the impact and reach of Harvard scholarship while also generating unrestricted financial support. Our aim for the summit is to build awareness and networks across schools, identify common ground, share knowledge, and raise the profile of Executive Education at Harvard

Inaugural Year, 2014: Debra Iles (HKS), Vicky Good (HBS), Stephen Hyde (GSE) 2015: Iles, Chad Gordon (HBS), Mitalene Fletcher (GSE), Kristin Bittinger and Mary Lou Townsend (HMS), Shironda White and Karen Travelo (HLS)

Collaborative Elements:

  • 9 cross-school learning sessions
  • University leadership perspective: Alan Garber, Martha Minow, Jonathan Paul
  • Data collection & sharing; MYFP data discussion

Outcome:

  • 150 people attended; outstanding evaluation scores
  • Powerful professional development opportunity for participants
  • Recognition that non-traditional learner population > student population
  • Non-traditional education added to Institutional Research agenda, Deans Council, Corporation, MYFP, Fin Deans meeting
