Project Mission: Many scientific research projects have evolved to include a team of different collaborators in specialized disciplines.  For such projects, project management becomes critical to moving research forward, and yet non-scientific tasks tend to be sidelined.  Many projects only require the services of a short-term or part-time project manager (PM), and therefore PIs do not use limited time and financial resources to hire their own PM.  With a PM Service Core, scientific leaders could tap into a core, as needed, of experienced and scientifically trained project managers in order to reduce the administrative burden of executing on multi-pronged grant proposals and coordinate project execution with multiple collaborators, thereby increasing their bandwidth to focus on their science and trainees.
