Innovative DEI+A Strategies for Humanitarian Organizations (Hum DEI+A)

Project: Innovative DEI+A Strategies for Humanitarian Organizations (Hum DEI+A)

Team: Irini Albanti, Tanya Shpigel, Niamh Gibbons, Naomi Bradford, Sabrina Sarli, and Ynis Isimbi

Schools/ Units Represented: HSPH

Mission: The goal of the project is to create a novel Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Antiracism (DEI+A) strategic framework as part of the overall Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) Balanced Scorecard that is currently being developed. This strategic planning project will draft a ‘how to guide’ with tips and listlets applicable to the four core operational functions of HHI Balanced Scorecard: finance, learning & development, beneficiaries, business. The team will apply evidence-based management, strategy, quality and performance improvement principles and activities will be conducted in five phases of the project cycle: Define, Measure, Improve, Disseminate, and Sustain. The project addresses the lack of established DEI+A tools in the field that guide the operations and governance of humanitarian academic organizations, like HHI, and will serve as a pilot program for further discussions around DEI+A and organizational effectiveness.
